Support Health Education for Middle Schools

Health Education: HB 1270: (Rep. Ann Coody/Sen. Clark Jolley)

As funding becomes available, health education will be taught for one semester in public schools during 6, 7, or 8 grade in accordance with state education standards under HB 1270.
Each one of the following ten units needs to be used to fulfill the bill requirements:
1. Physical activity
2. Nutrition
3. Alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs
4. Behavioral health
5. Oral health
6. Environmental health
7. Growth and development
8. Injury prevention
9. Bullying prevention
10. Wellness

HB 1270 is being heard Tuesday, February 15 in the House Common Education Committee at 10:30 a.m. in room 412C.

  • Please join us at the Capitol on Tuesday, February 15 to show support for this bill and attend the House Common Education Committee meeting.
     
  • Contact members of the committee and urge them to support the health education bill.
