Treating the Childhood Obesity Epidemic

Conference Goals:

  • Provide an overview of the childhood obesity epidemic, causes, cost and implications
  • Describe methods to appropriately engage overweight children in exercise
  • Provide techniques to help parents with overweight children, and collaborate with them for successful and healthy weight management
  • Promote an understanding of exercise and diet intervention strategies useful for families and community programming
  • Identify the risks and benefits of pharmacotherapy in the clinical treatment of childhood obesity

Target Audience:

The fourth annual childhood obesity conference targets health professionals involved in the care of overweight and obese children. The intended audience includes physicians, nurses, dietitians/DTR's, nutritionists, fitness professionals, health educators, public health professionals, social workers, psychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, teachers, administrators and school counselors.
